Early Diagnosis and Treatment of Ewing Sarcoma
One of the most common types of bone cancer is Ewing Sarcoma. Early diagnosis, appropriate treatment, and successful surgery both save lives and save the cancerous limb. We successfully operated our 12-year-old patient after appropriate chemotherapy and radiotherapy for Ewing Sarcoma in the humerus.
In this technique, which can be applied in a number of centers around the world; We performed bone transplantation with wide resection + hot-dog method (frozen bone in liquid nitrogen, vascularized fibula autograft + radial artery transposition + artery and vein anastomosis with microsurgery) by protecting all vessels and nerves.
I owe to thank to Pediatric Oncology team who worked devotedly during the treatment process of this patient, to Plastic Surgeon Prof. Ramazan Erkin Ünlü and his team with his support during and after the surgery, to all our unnamed heroes (Anesthesia team, Residents, Nurses, Technicians, Operating room Staff ..) and to my own team.
