Soft tissue Tumors
Soft tissue tumors are a statement that defines abnormal tissues developing from other tissues than bone and cartilage. IT has a very wide range. Generally they originate from muscle, adipose and vascular tissues.
Although soft tissue tumors are generally benign, they may also be malignant. They may also be detected after they have had metastases.
Soft tissue tumors generally cause pain and swelling. They may cause pain or no pain. May be of different sizes and locations.
Soft tissue tumors are similar to other tumors in the sense that genetic and and family history is important. Also smoking, alcohol consumption may expedite the tumoral process.
The diagnosis of soft tissue tumors usually beings with a thorough history and examination followed by x-ray, ultrasound and MRI imaging. When needed a biopsy may be performed.
